Using Your iPhone Safely in the Car

in Phone

The temptation to use your amazing new iPhone in the car is great, but can have substantial risk to your safety since operating a car requires all of your concentration. Many states have even passed laws banning talking on a phone without a headset. While arguably it's more the conversation itself that is causing the risks and not just the act of holding the phone, there's no arguing with the fact that using the phone when driving is dangerous. Text messaging and browsing the Internet are even worse can they require that you take your eyes off the road.

There are a couple of ways that you can get the benefits of your phone while remaining safe in your car. First, make a firm mental decision to avoid looking at your phone will the car is moving. Writing a text message or checking your email while stopped at a light is not great, but it's better than taking your eyes off the road at 70 miles per hour. You can also buy a headset in order to talk while driving and keep your eyes on the road and hands on the wheel. Some headsets plug in while others connect wirelessly through Bluetooth networking. You can also purchase a hands free kit for your iPhone which will broadcast the call through your car's speakers and add a microphone so that you can hold a conversation while keeping your hands free to drive. Any of these solutions can make you a safer driver and help keep you and other drivers safe!
